The Start of J3 Timing
J3 Timing officially started in the Fall of 2011. But, the idea of starting a timing company began well before that. Leading up to 2011 the three Jordan brothers (Tom, Steve, Andy) organized an annual 5k run on the 4th of July in Stockton, IL. In 2008 & 2009 the first two years we hand timed the Stockton 5k which was difficult having 91 and 145 runners respectfully. In 2010 and 2011 we hired an area running club to come out and handle our timing needs as we grew to 175 and over 200 runners those two years. At that point we weren't impressed with how long it took to get our results for awards and results were not posted online so we decided to look for better timing options. That is when we decided to purchase a timing system through innovative timing systems.
Starting in 2012, we started timing our hometown 5k with our new business J3 Timing. The event grew and grew to 400 runners which is remarkable since that is 20% of the towns population. The added services we brought to the race included: chip timing, finisher photos, instant results, text message results, results linked to Facebook, kiosk, scrolling results on site, global truss finish line, and a custom finish line banner. With our new timing services we have one of the largest races in the areas even though we are a small town. The hard work, success, and top of the line timing technology has given us the opportunity to grow into the fastest growing timing company in the country. We have also accepted the Regional Leader responsibility for innovative timing systems which includes Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
